Cindy Schwadel
Repertory Member
Since making her New Jersey stage debut in CHICAGO, here at Playhouse 22 in 1992, Cindy has been consistently active with the East Brunswick Community Players. In addition to performing in such mainstage productions as FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Golde; Perry Nomination), THE ROTHSCHILDS (Gutele Rothschild) and BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (Ginger), Cindy first appeared in A CHRISTMAS CAROL in 1997, appearing in multiple ensemble roles, which also won her a Perry Nomination. Beginning in 1998, she was cast as Mrs. Cratchit, and has been playing the role ever since. In addition to performing, Cindy has produced several successful playes, including A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, and TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, each of which brought a Perry Nomination. She took a turn at directing a show near and dear to her heart; DO RE MI opened on Broadway in 1960, and starred Cindy’s great-uncle, Phil Silvers. Seeing that show, seeing Grandpa’s brother making magic on that stage had an enormous impact on her choice of avocation. In addition to writing and directing several New Year’s Eve revues, Cindy, along with fellow board member Peter Riga, Jr., performed cabaret road shows during the period of time we were without a permanent home, to keep our name and talents before the public. Cindy joined the Board of Directors in 1996, and served as Vice President/Executive Producer from 2001 – 2011. Cindy and her husband, Blaine, raised 4 children in Manalapan, all of whom are grown, happy and successful and now resides in Manhattan.
