Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA brings Wit and Seduction to Playhouse 22
Playhouse 22 is proud to present a smart comedy, with a mix of mystery. Arcadia was written by Tom Stoppard, a brilliant wordsmith best known for his Academy Award winning movie, Shakespeare in Love. In Arcadia, he has crafted two witty, parallel tales in separate times, but the same space. It takes place at a manor in the English countryside, bouncing between two time periods, the early 1800's and present day.
"On one level, it's an academic mystery", explains director Bob Gargiullo, "piecing together events of the past by partial accounts On another level, it shows how sexual attraction can create chaos from order -- make the predictable unpredictable."
The talented cast of Arcadia includes Gerry Appel of Bound Brook, Eric Branda of East Brunswick, Bob Dumpert of Franklin Park, James Grausam of Carteret, Jon Heron of New Brunswick, Anne Kaufman of Keyport, Pat Lithgow of Edison, Danielle McMaster of Monroe Township, Catherine Rowe of Somerset, Keith Sampino of Old Bridge, Kerri Lynn Sirkin of Edison and Joe Zedeny of Flemington.
