Playhouse 22 will be hosting a free day-long outdoor in-person theater festival on Saturday, August 7 (rain date 8/14) and is looking for diverse directors and playwrights to submit either existing or original one-acts to be performed.

 

  • Each piece should be no longer than 45 minutes in length and have no more than five cast members.  

  • Each director will be responsible for finding performers; however, Playhouse 22 can provide guidance on a case-by-case basis.  

  • Each piece will be presented on a small outdoor stage.  

  • Very limited technical and scenic features will be permitted.   

  • The festival will start at approximately noon and continue until approximately 10 p.m.  The times of each performance are still to be determined based on the number of submissions received. 

  • Rehearsals are to take place remotely and no in-person rehearsals will be held at the theater.   

  • Each piece will be presented once.  

  • The entire event will be held outdoors adhering to current rules and regulations regarding social distancing.  

  •  No stipends will be made to directors, playwrights or performers.

 

Interested parties should send an email including their name, email address, phone number, a copy or a link to their piece and a 100 word or less summary of the piece to information@playhouse22.org by June 30.    

 

EMCEE AUDITIONS

We will be having auditions for two people to serve as emcees for Theater Fest '21, an outdoor in-person theater festival to be held on August 7.  (Rain date:  August 14)

 

The festival will start at approximately noon and continue until approximately 10 p.m.  The times of the festival are still to be determined based on the number of performances.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Introduce each act.

  • Provide some family-friendly banter between performances.  

  • Effectively engage with members of the cast and audience.

 

There will be limited rehearsals either in-person or virtually.  

 

Special points for individuals who have special skills (i.e. juggling, stand-up comedy, card tricks, illusion) or a musical talent to show off.  (Optional)  

 

The entire event will be held outdoors adhering to current rules and regulations regarding social distancing.  

 

No stipends will be made to the emcees.
